What's new

Release notes for Better Comply. Each entry describes what changed and why it matters to you.

v2 - June 2026

This release adds seven major capabilities to the platform, focused on document import, richer assessments, flexible workforce assignment, scheduling controls, kiosk-friendly identity, and supervisor reporting.

Document import - bring your existing SOPs into Better Comply

You can now import Word (.doc, .docx) and PDF files directly into Controlled Documents. Better Comply converts the file to editable Markdown, extracts embedded images with provenance tracking, and walks you through a review step before saving. The imported document enters the standard QMS lifecycle (draft, in review, approved, effective) and every image is stored alongside the source file.

This means you can migrate your existing SOP library into Better Comply without retyping content. See Importing documents.

Richer assessment question types

Quiz authoring now supports four question types:

  • Multiple choice - one or more correct answers from a list.
  • Single choice - exactly one correct answer.
  • True / False - a two-option binary question.
  • Image - a question illustrated with an author-uploaded image (author-supplied only; the AI generator does not produce image questions).

You can also control how many questions the AI generates (1-20) and which types to include. Per-question explanations are preserved through generation and storage and will appear in future learner UI updates.

See Training authoring.

Attribute-based assignment matrix

Assignment rules can now target workers by a combination of attributes beyond department and location:

  • Activity - the type of work (for example, welding, assembly, inspection).
  • Plant - the facility or building.
  • Line - the production line.
  • Workstation - the specific workstation.
  • Custom attributes - a free-form key/value map for any other dimension your organization uses.

Rules match with AND logic across dimensions and OR logic within each dimension. An empty dimension is a wildcard. When a worker's attributes change, the system automatically re-evaluates all active rules and creates any missing assignments within minutes.

Administrators configure attributes on user profiles and define rule targets in the Onboarding section. See Assignment rules.

Scheduling controls and grace periods

Each training now has two configurable scheduling levers:

  • Due offset - the number of days after assignment before the training is due (1-3650 days, default 30).
  • Grace period - the number of additional days after the due date before the assignment is marked overdue (configured in weeks, 0-52 weeks, default 0).

The due offset and grace period appear on overdue badges in the learner view, team reports, and the weekly digest email. All three surfaces use the same calculation so they always agree.

Version-triggered re-certification. When activating a new training version, administrators can choose to automatically re-enrol all users who already have a completion for the previous version. Prior evidence is marked as superseded. Learners receive a new assignment with the normal due window. This replaces the previous manual process of finding and re-assigning affected learners.

See Scheduling and recertification.

Emailless / kiosk employee accounts

Shop-floor workers who do not have a corporate email address can now sign in to Better Comply using an employee number and PIN instead. No email address is required.

  • Administrators create emailless accounts from the Users page using the "Create emailless employee" option.
  • The worker signs in at a shared kiosk by entering their employee number and PIN on the employee number tab of the login page.
  • Every emailless employee has a full identity inside Better Comply - training assignments, evidence, certificates, and audit records work identically to email-based accounts.
  • Pseudonymous accounts (where the display name is replaced with an employee number) are also supported for environments with stricter privacy requirements.

See Emailless employees.

Reports and supervisor weekly digest

Reports page. A new Reports section is available to administrators and team leads. It offers two views:

  • By Department - a roll-up of assignment status (passed, overdue, due soon) across departments.
  • By Person - a drill-down showing each individual's assignment status, including which quiz questions they answered incorrectly.

The reports use the same overdue calculation as the learner view and the digest email.

Weekly supervisor digest email. Team leads and supervisors now receive a weekly email summarizing their team's training status - overdue assignments, due-soon assignments, and recent completions. The digest is scoped strictly to their direct reports (foreman and line lead relationships). It is sent in one of four languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, or German) and is delivered automatically by a scheduled background job. Delivery is recorded in an append-only audit ledger.

See Reports.
