Navigation
Once you are signed in, Better Comply shows two persistent navigation elements: a sidebar on the left and a header bar across the top. The sidebar shows only the items your role is permitted to use; the header provides the page title, notifications, and the user menu.
Everyone. The items you see will differ depending on your role.
The header (top bar)
The header spans the full width of the page and contains:
Breadcrumb and page title
The left side of the header shows the current page. On list pages (for example, "Training Materials") only the page name appears. On detail or edit pages a two-segment breadcrumb appears: the parent section (a clickable link back to the list) followed by the entity name (for example, "Controlled Documents > SOP-QA-012").
The page title is the single <h1> of each page - you will not find a duplicate title block in the page body.
Status chip
On document detail and training detail pages, a single status badge appears next to the entity name showing the primary state: for example, "Effective" for a controlled document or "Pending review" for a training version.
Notifications
The bell icon in the header shows a count of unread notifications. Select it to see recent messages.
User menu
Your avatar and (on wider screens) your name appear on the right. Selecting the avatar opens the user menu with:
- View profile - your profile and training history
- Restart tour - replay the onboarding walkthrough for your role
- Theme - Light, Dark, or System
- Language - English, Spanish, Portuguese, or German
- Log out
The sidebar
The sidebar runs down the left side of the screen. On desktop it can be collapsed to icons only by selecting the arrow at the bottom. The items are grouped into sections; only the sections that apply to your role are shown.

When the sidebar is collapsed on desktop you see icons only. Hovering over an icon shows a tooltip with the item name. Select the arrow at the bottom of the sidebar to expand it again.
What each navigation item is for
Dashboard - Organization-wide training statistics: overall completion rates, overdue count, and recent activity. Administrators use this for a quick health check.
My Trainings - The employee's personal list of assigned trainings, showing status, due date, and an overdue warning. This is the employee's starting point every day.
My Team - The Team Lead's view of their direct reports' training status. Shows who is on track, who is overdue, and allows sending reminders with one click.
Campaigns - Named batches of training assignments. Administrators create campaigns to roll out a new training to a group of employees, set due dates, and track progress.
Training Materials - The library of trainings and their versions. Administrators author content here, manage the version lifecycle, and trigger recertification when a major revision is published.
Controlled Documents - SOPs, work instructions, and policies governed by the QMS lifecycle. Administrators import or author documents, submit them for review, approve with e-signature, make effective, and eventually mark obsolete.
Review queue - The inbox for quality reviewers. Shows training versions waiting for approval, documents flagged as outdated, and recertification decisions. Available to Quality Admin and Corporate Admin only.
Onboarding - Attribute-based auto-assignment rules. When a new employee is created or their job attributes change, the system automatically assigns the matching trainings.
Users - User management. Invite new users by email or create emailless employees by employee number and PIN for shop-floor kiosks.
Organization - Manage departments and locations used for filtering and assignment scoping.
Reports - Per-person and per-department compliance reports showing completion rates, overdue counts, and quiz wrong-answer breakdowns. Available to administrators and Team Leads (who see only their direct reports).
Audit - The immutable audit log. Every regulated action is recorded here. Administrators can filter by date, user, and action type, and export to CSV for external auditors.
History - An employee's own completed trainings with downloadable certificates.
Profile - Personal information, language settings, and training history for the signed-in user.
Mobile and responsive behaviour
The sidebar is hidden on smaller screens and replaced by a hamburger menu button at the top left of the header. Tapping it opens a full-screen navigation drawer. Selecting any item closes the drawer and navigates to that page.
The header adapts at different screen widths:
- On small screens (under
md) only the avatar is shown in the user menu trigger. - On medium screens (
mdtolg) the avatar, role badge, and chevron are shown. - On large screens (
lgand above) the full name, department, role badge, and chevron are shown.
The breadcrumb section name is hidden on small screens and only the entity name (page title) is shown.
